That's who I hang with
So when you speak Industry, I don't know the language
Joell claims that he keeps company with people who really know what the streets and the hood means. Therefore, when some “industry” rapper who has lost touch with the hood tries to come at him, he is on a different level than him. There is also the wordplay of when someone “speaks industry”, it implies he is speaking about the business, money-making side of rap, which Joell cares nothing for, instead choosing to go for the more artistic, story-telling, real side of rap. Therefore when someone “speaks industry”, he simply cannot identify with them, therefore he doesn’t “know the language”.
