Created by southern black women to serve massa' guest
Actually, fried chicken wasn’t originally created by Blacks, it already existed in Europe during medieval times and was actually cooked and eaten by many whites before introduced to the South. However, slave masters soon realized that Blacks were really good at making the stuff — hence, thereby beginning a cultural phenomenon that rages on today.
“massa' guest” is also an oral pun for “masochist,” continuing the theme of unhealthy chicken consumption.
