At Watsky’s school, everyone other than the bullies would get beaten up on a regular basis therefore the majority of his classmates dealt percocets (painkillers) with each other, hence them becoming the “currency”.
Also, percocets is widely abused as an addictive drug, and was apparently heavily in circulation around Watsky’s neighborhood.
