Shooters go after Judas
Jesus Christ if I live life on my knees, ain't no need to do this
Judas refers to Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ. He is infamously known for his kiss and betrayal of Jesus to the hands of the chief Sanhedrin priests, in exchange for a payment of 30 pieces of silver, after which he subsequently hanged himself out of remorse and guilt.
Therefore, in popular culture, a Judas is someone who sells out his friends or betrays them, also known as a rat or a snitch. Typically, these sort of people are looked down upon, and in this case, killed. Could then Kendrick be Jesus in this case?
Playing on the Judas/Jesus Christ reference, he uses Jesus' name as a statement of exclamation for the next line, also saying that if he had stuck to a religion and been a devout person (which he isn’t), he would never have needed to use rap as an outlet to vent his emotions.
