Just a couple that look for trouble and live in the street with rank
No better picture to paint than me walking from bible study
And called his homies because he had said he noticed my face
From a function that tooken place,
He’s not down with either gang (Bloods or Crips) but he does hang with a few gang members in his area, and people notice him. A rival gang member would make a call to his “homies” so they could jump him on his way home, all because of the concept of guilty by association.
Also notice the homonym on the word “rank”. “Rank” can refer to the hierarchy within the gang life. Do a deed, rise up, and gain respect. Yet at the same time, this gang life is contributing to the degradation of the city and is rotting it, causing it to become “rank”.
