This alludes to gang violence in Compton, which is one side verse the other (Bloods vs. Crips). But Kendrick is neither Blood or Crip, he’s on a different side entirely — this is good vs evil. And if his raps get him killed, he’ll be on the other side of life: death.
This line could be:

After all, Kendrick did spit a similar line on his BET Backroom Freestyle:
