[Skit/Outro]

from Kendrick Lamar – Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst Lyrics on Rap Genius

Meaning

K.Dot and his friends, still angry and upset over Dave’s death, are met by an older woman, a neighbor of Kendrick’s (as revealed by Kendrick’s mother in the skit that appears at the end of “Real”) who approaches the boys. The woman sees that one of the boys has a gun

That better not be what I think it is.”

She then begins to reveal to them that they are dying of thirst and that they need to take a new path and let Jesus into their lives. She then leads them in a prayer which is a rendition of The Sinner’s Prayer. Which can be heard being recited by the group of young men in the beginning of the album.

At this moment, Kendrick sheds the hood mentality of K.Dot and begins to lead a new life as a newly enlightened Kendrick Lamar.

The woman is voiced by Maya Angelou
Interesting thing about choosing Maya Angelou:

On the set of Poetic Justice, she met Tupac. He was about to get into a confrontation with another man, and she talked him out of it. Her being the voice of the wise woman is paramount because this conversation she has with the boys is one that was eerily similar to the one she had with Tupac:
