Earl embodies a satirical tone, believing Complex outed him to profit and earn bragging rights for the scoop. Also, Earl artfully pauses after “you made my life”. You hear this as a complete thought, at first taking it at face value. But then, he jumps in with the punchline, and corrects the assumption by saying, “you made my life harder.”
