Earl embodies a satirical tone, believing Complex outed him to profit and earn bragging rights for the scoop. The media often adopts the mantra “any press is good press,” and thus Complex might act like they were doing him a favour, but Earl doesn’t appreciate the attention they gave him — he doesn’t need nor want it.
Also, Earl artfully pauses after “you made my life”. You hear this as a complete thought, at first taking it at face value. But then, he jumps in with the punchline, and corrects the assumption by saying, “you made my life harder.”
