I miss him, long as I'm living he's living through memories
He's there to kill all my suicidal tendencies
from Jay-Z – Regrets Lyrics 1 on Rap Genius
Meaning
Strangely a lot of this verse makes it seem like it could have been written for Jay-Z’s late friend, The Notorious B.I.G.:
- Jay has said that he keeps Biggie’s memory alive by reusing his lines
- Biggie had a song called “Suicidal Thoughts” in which he debates the merits of going to heaven or hell (see next line)
- Biggie was certainly “crazy nice with his” in terms of rapping skill
The only problem is that this album was released in June, 1996, and Biggie wasn’t murdered until March 1997. Just add it to the long list of vague premonitions of the deaths of The Notorious B.I.G. and 2Pac
