Its like King Arthur and Knight Sir Lancelot
Lefty and Donnie Brasco, Gotti and Paul
The three of these stories all have a similar conclusion. Stories of admiration that turns into friendship which end in betrayal.
-King Arthur and Sir Lancelot
Lancelot was a knight in King Arthur’s court. Sir Gawain (a friend of Arthur’s) wanted to extract revenge on Lancelot, who had killed his brother Sir Gawain during a battle. Sir Gawain managed to convince King Arthur that Lancelot was a traitor and had him killed.
-Lefty and Donnie Brasco
Donnie Brasco is an undercover agent working inside the Mafia. Lefty is the one who vouches for Brasco. However, the trials and tribulations of the undercover work become more than Brasco can bear. His marriage falls apart and to top it off, the Mafia suspect a mole in the organization. The real dilemma is afforded to Brasco, who knows if he walks away from the Mafia, Lefty will be the one punished.
- Gotti and Paul
The unsanctioned assassination of Paul Castellano by John Gotti would spark years of animosity between the Gambinos and the other New York crime families.
