I see your praying to Jesus, but will that help ease the pain?
In the movie Django Unchained, there is a scene in which Django kills Big John Brittle, one of the notorious Brittle Boys at Big Daddy’s plantation. At the beginning of the scene, Big John is seen holding a Bible and quotes Genesis 9:2 (he even has torn pages of the Bible sewn to his shirt?!! You got that right, he is that religious!) before he begins punishing, by means of whipping, a slave girl Little Jody. Some slave owners believed that they were doing God’s work by enslaving-taming African people. Hence the reference to praying to Jesus — a religious Christian figure. At the end of the scene Django utters the classic quote
I like the way you die, boy
