Chick-fil-A don't support gays, if you ask me they jumped the gun
But that was yesterday and I ain't gay
So, I'm about to get me a number one
On June 16, 2012, while on the syndicated radio talk show, The Ken Coleman Show, Chick-fil-A president and chief operating officer (COO) Dan Cathy made what was seen as an inflammatory statement. Cathy stated:
“I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, ‘We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage’. I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about.”
Which, along with reports that Chick-fil-A spends money sponsoring Anti-Gay Marriage groups (which some consider to be hate groups), sparked a lot of controversy in an election year.
The reaction to these comments and the backlash involved spawed a nation-wide “Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day” on August 1, 2012 where those in favor of Chick-Fil-A and against same-sex marriage stood in line for hours just to get a chicken sandwich.
Then, two later on August 3, 2012, gay people nation-wide staged a Kiss Off Day where they went to Chick-Fil-A’s and gave open Public Displays of Affection to their same-sex love partners.
Skillz finds all of this ridiculous, but he’s not gay and he’s a Southern boy, so fuck it — he’ll still have a Chicken Sandwich (number one on the menu)
