We living this 'til the day that we die
Survival of the fit only the strong survive
While “survival of the fittest” is generally attributed to Charles Darwin, Herbert Spencer was the first one to coin the phrase. It was an adaptation of Darwin’s original quote “Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life” from his Origin of Species. The meaning behind it is that the only way to survive is to be able to adapt to your environment; that applies to both Galápagos tortoises and gangsters.
