Continuing the criticism of “rap,” many rap songs appear to not have a cohesive progression of an idea. Rap is designed to be an expressive medium, so rappers rap what rhymes and what the beat makes them feel, not on one specific subject.
This line is quite difficult to understand. It could also be heard as, “No subtext when we’re rappin',” as in he says what he means and can’t hide the true meaning behind them.
