I met a young girl, she gave me a rainbow
Even in the midst of the holocaust, the is one pure soul, innocent like he once was, who reminded him of the gift of faith.
Faith is a gift from GOD:
“Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:”
Faith can sustain us, even through the nightmare of doom, portrayed in this song.
“ If I ascend up into heaven, thou [art] there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou [art there]. ”
The “rainbow,” was the seal of GOD’s Covenant, promising not to destroy every living thing, again.
Having the gift of this rainbow, restored, a metaphor for God’s gift of faith, can help us endure even untenable circumstances.
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? [shall] tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword??
Bob Dylan provided many young Jewish people, with the gift of a rainbow, that no other cultural icon has done, since the Messiah. While his conversion to Christianity was controversial in the world, for other reasons, it created a tsunami of crisis, and criticism, in the Jewish community.
Many Jews, were led to follow in his steps, to be blessed by the gift of faith, in the Messiah: Y'shua HaMaschiach.
Bob opened that DOOR, kicked it open, and stood there, defiantly, taking all the hate, criticism and persecution, so that later, literally tens of thousands of young people, many of them Jews, could enter that door.
He faced so much heat, that it became a “major controversy” in the Jewish community. The rainbow that graced so many lives still endures as a sign of eternal grace:
“ I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.”
(Just an aside: Thank you Bob, for giving the children of Abraham that rainbow of hope, through your poetry and songs, and the stand you took 30 years ago. The seeds sowed through your courage, sprouted into a garden of GOD. I pray that the young girls and boys who were able to follow that rainbow, because, you did it first, can return the gift of that rainbow’s hope, color, beauty, and light, to you, when you need it the most.)
“Psa 32:7 Thou [art] my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.”
