The winters break
The splinter in the side of a sinners ache
Like in nature, winter is there to bring a death (or slumber) to things in order for new growth, war may be our social winter.
The imperfection of man, maybe even man’s own freewill, is like a splinter in its side- always itching, poking, stuck in there- to leave you a little uncomfortable.
A reference to this Bible verse:
“Therefore, in order that I should not be conceited, I was given a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, in order that he might buffet me, (in order that I not become) lest I become conceited.” — 2 Corinthians 12:7-10
Also, could be a reference to the spear forced in Jesus’s side as He was being crucified for mans sins.
