Put it out and hope the World sing
We sippin’ liquor for the pain that the World bring
from J. Cole – See World Lyrics on Rap Genius
Cole uses these lines cleverly to show how all the pain in this world is self inflicted and is therefore unnecessary. He
Describes his music as a form of medication to help cure the pain the world is bringing and hopes people sing along to it. Whilst overlooking the result of the influence of his music he’s trying to numb himself from the pain that the world is causing almost as if he is God or the person who is meant to cure this pain.
I’m somethin like the light-skin version
Of the very same baby that The Virgin Mary raised
his lyrics from “Simba” also capture this popular yet played down theme in J.Cole’s music.

Here J.Cole seems as if he is amounst the stars holding a ball or is it the Earth. Also notice the nature of his grasp as if he is protecting the ball.

Again, Cole is looking down at the world with his hands on his head thinking of how he’s going to use his music to cure the pain.
