Tire marks, tire marks
Finish line with the tire marks
When the relay starts I’m a runaway slave
K.Dot begins this verse with idea of his victory already being in sight. When a drag race begins, he’s as eager for the Detox to drop as a person who no longer wishes to be his master’s property proving through its own simplicity that he is his own man instead!!
“tire marks, tire marks”
Kendrick starts by saying tire marks twice, setting a scene: a race has begun, it seems, and he’s put his pedal to the floor of his car; he’s going as hard as he can from the start (whether the race is his career, his life, or this freestyle), so get ready.
“finish line with the tire marks”
Hold up, tire marks at the finish line? You dont burn out at the finish line, you don’t brake til well after the finish line, why are there tire marks there? Because once kendrick starts… the race is over. He steps on the gas, its through, no one else even has a chance.
“when the relay starts I’m a runaway slave”
I’m guessing he’s the anchor. Once it’s kendrick’s turn, once someone hands him the torch and gives him full access to the game, he’s gone like the white man’s after him (deadly fast, as stated before).
