Lifestyle of the young, black and reckless
A generation of niggas strapped and askin' questions
Like tell me why I ain't got shit
I let this liquor fill my liver with them toxics

Often, black men live for immediate gratification and will do just about anything to fill that void for money, cars and clothes. Anything sometimes includes strappin' on a gun, but it still leaves us confused as to “why they (the rich) have everything but we live in the ghetto?” J.Cole takes the voice of that brotha in the hood: well, since I ain’t got shit, I might as well drink this liquor. But he’s saying that is EXACTLY why we ain’t got shit…with an attitude like that.
