I don't care who was there and who saw me just jaw you
Go call you a lawyer, file you a lawsuit
I'll smile in the courtroom and buy you a wardrobe
I'm tired of all you, I don't mean to be mean
But that's all I can be is just me
from Eminem – The Way I Am Lyrics on Rap Genius
Meaning
If you annoy Eminem he will assault you, as he suggested in the previous line with “lifting you ten feet in the air”.
He will then call you a lawyer, file the lawsuit and buy you a wardrobe (lots of clothes) aka compensation because he’s rich enough.
Em will do all the above just to highlight the fact that he doesn’t like being approached and annoyed by overzealous fans and other idiots.
Em then cleverly uses a homophone with “mean”:
- He doesn’t “mean” to as in he doesn’t intend on being nasty.
- Mean is also an informal term for bad-tempered and/or vicious.
Once again, Eminem delivers with clever linguistics.
