Some niggas been here for a couple, never been here again
Some rappers lack consistency, come into the rap game then fizzle out and you never hear of them again. There have been so many memorable fall-offs in rap history.
Like this guy:
Oh you don’t recognize him? Point proven.
Drake here is revelling in his rampant mainstream-ery, very much unlike the man in the photo, who suffered for his art beyond working graveshifts and fighting with his mom. Rap physics dictate that popularity entitles one to the belief that they are superior to those who are less so; however, you’d be hard pressed to find a Drake song as idiosyncratic and imaginative as this one. Unfortunate though it is, the kind of narcissistic party rapping that is Drake’s stock in trade will always be more popular, dooming artists like the one above to what is, from an artistic standpoint, unmerited obscurity.
But y'know, it’s whatever.
