But don't blame me when little Eric jumps off of the terrace
You shoulda been watching him, apparently you ain't parents
Here he gives insight to all the parents who blame their kids' bad behaviour on Eminem. They should be more of a parent figure and watch what they do and what provokes it.
The use of “little Eric” can be taken as a reference to both Eric Harris, one of the Columbine shooters, and Connor (son of rock musician Eric) Clapton, who died after falling out of his father’s high-rise apartment.
Em later referenced “little Eric” in his next album, in the chorus of “White America”.
“Apparently you ain’t parents” means two things: 1) you aren’t good at parenting, and 2) oh, your kid is dead? apparently, you aren’t parents anymore! hah!
