Mos addresses gentrification (making “luxury” apartment buildings out of former tenements), then just beginning to sweep through his native Brooklyn, and juxtaposes the image of skyscrapers with another contradiction — a “low” life getting “high” on marijuana. The naturalness of the tree-top contrasts with the oppressive artificiality of the skyscraper.
