Some say them ah playboy, ah playboy rabbit
Funny man ah get dropped like a bad habit
So nuh bodah pose tuff if you don't have it
I think a few translations are in order…
Damian is firstly saying that ‘Some guys like to see themselves as playboys, but they are more in likeness to a playboy rabbit’. Some guys are self-proclaimed pleasure-seekers and hard nuts, but are actually soft like the rabbit on the ‘Playboy’ logo.
‘Funny man’ is a term used to coin homosexuals, less well-known as the term ‘Batty man’. Jamaica is infamously homophobic, and are among countries where homosexuality is illegal and punishable by prison time if caught by police — I say caught by police, as usually, homosexuals are either attacked or killed or ‘dropped’ as Damian says.
The lyric “Babylon, ya get dropped like a bad habit” has also been used by Marley when not wanting to use the “funny man” term (as proved in this version).
