Marriage Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Do you know what I think about you?
Do you know what I feel is true?
Do you know what I think about her?
I know what she thinks about me, I'm sure

[Chorus]
I don't know why it's so, but it's true
I don't know why it's so, but it's true

[Verse 2]
So you know what I think about you?
Do you know what you want me to do?
When you see me staring at you
Do you know what I want you to do?

[Chorus]
I don't know why it's so, but it's true
I don't know why it's so, but it's true
I don't know why it's so, but it's true
I don't know why it's so, but it's true

[Bridge]
I don't want to have sex with you
I want to be your friend, I want to be with you
I want you to marry me

[Verse 3]
So you know what I think about you?
Do you know that my speed is you?
I know I want you to be my wife
And stay with me the rest of your life

[Outro]
Do you know?
Do you know?
Do you know?
Do you know?
Do you know what I think about you?

Genius Annotation

Marriage is a counter-spoof of the “-age” motif that exists in the titles of other songs on the album: Myage, Tonyage, and Bikeage.

Adding “-age” onto the end of words is Southern California slang, meant to increase the magnitude of the adjective or word.

In the case of the other songs with the “-age” suffix, those are new words. Marriage is an existing word that just happens to have the “-age” suffix.

By placing the actual word Marriage along side other made-up “-age” slang words, marriage becomes more goofy and less credible.

The song is about marrying a girl, but perhaps this request seems childish and irresponsible without considering the full impact of what marriage could mean.
