The lost black sheep of G.O.O.D. Music
Only good for a hook, huh?
The “hook” shot is most likely referencing not just the labels compilation album; Cruel Summer but his role in other songs from the label. He featured as the artist singing the hook on numerous G.O.O.D affiliated tracks, including: G.O.O.D Friday, Gorgeous, Christian Dior Denim Flow and Welcome to Heartbreak.
The term “lost black sheep”, of course, refers to how Cudi didn’t fit in with the rest of the G.O.O.D. artists — or thought that he couldn’t fit in — as sheep are typically white.
Though, when history is recalled, it is remembered that, at least during the time period when My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was being recorded, Cudi didn’t actually like laying down “flows” that much, preferring to write hooks and bridges instead, which makes this lament a rather interesting one, if not perplexing.
