Too many blueprints, not enough architects

from Slaughterhouse – Microphone Lyrics 1 on Rap Genius

Meaning

Many are willing to say what needs to be done to improve rap, yet no one is willing to take action.

After several shots from J.B. to Jay-Z, Jay decided to respond on the song “Reminder” on Blueprint 3:

Throwbacks, I threw ‘em back
Remember those, button-ups?
Young Hov, tell them ordinary Joes button up

In addition to his multiple “Blueprint” albums, Joey could also be referring to what Nas pointed out about Hov on his Jay-Z ode: “Ether”; before Jay-Z, Boogie Down Productions released an album called Blueprint. This would imply that Jay-Z is not architect, as he does not design anything but rather comes out with a copy of something from hip-hop’s past.
