Spaceships are lifting off of a dying world
And millions are left behind while the sky burns
There wasn't room for you and I, only you, goodbye, goodbye
The dying world suggests broken romantic relationships.
And the fact that in many relationships, one person is left still in love (“left behind”) while the other has lost feelings and are moving on.
The last line is him saying that the girl he loves has moved on, however he still loves her and he himself cannot move on from their dying relationship.
Also to be noted: a reference to Frank being relocated during hurricane Katrina when they levies broke and the people who didn’t make it were left behind. Children were separated from their mothers and people were separated from their families.
He currently lives in California.
