The overtones of racial (in)equality continue here. Combined with the later references to Harriet Tubman and What’s Going On, and the previous allusions to a lack of pay for hard work, the context is clearly the Black position in modern America. The Great Pyramids of Egypt have long been thought to have been built by slaves, although this has recently been called into question. She’s symbolically demanding the return of the fruits of slave labor.
