They wouldn't fuck with me if I drove a Nova

from Big L (Ft. Fat Joe) – The Enemy Lyrics on Rap Genius

Meaning

Lamont is again refering to the white jealousy of African-Americans who are able to ascend from the virtual emptiness and lack of wealth that accompanies the hood-life into rich.

This line signifies that if Big L was driving an older car that is not so much of a status symbol he would not get pulled over because he would be thought of as a regular black man. This sort of profiling is evident in the movie “Menace II Society”, when Caine is pulled over for driving a late model Ford with nice wheels. The cops automatically assume he is a criminal who got the car illegally (because he is black driving a nice car) and they proceed to beat up Caine and his friend Sharif (who is a law abiding Muslim) even though the registration and insurance has been paid up.
