Tryna play the boy like he's saccharine
But ain't nothing sweet bout how I hold my gun
The “fool” harassing Jay thought that Jay was “sweet” — Jay here uses the term “saccharin” (an artificial sweetener) to make this point. “Sweet” means soft, gay, unable to fight, etc.
Jay points out that there is nothing sweet about him, and that he is armed. (the point of this line is really the fairly subtle “saccharin”/“sweet” pun)
Although he seems to be referring to the artificial, cancer-causing sweetner Saccharin (aka “Sweet n Low”), his meaning is closer to “saccharine” (an adjective meaning “cloyingly agreeable or ingratiating”)
This obviously isn’t a shot towards one of our moderators…
Could it also be a reference to the villain character from Tin Tin? Saccharin is always trying to outsmart Tin Tin, the boy hero.
