Four in the mornin', and I'm zonin'

The book “Skinhead” by Nick Knight (the video’s director) might be a good start. Skinhead has its roots in the British Mod subculture. The music that Mods listened to was primarily Jamaican Ska and Northern Soul (Motown). It was mostly being played by black DJ in London clubs. The skinhead look is a British working class interpretation of the Jamaican Rude Boy look. I think that Kanye is aware of this history. I think in a way he is calling for unity among the oppressed (aka poor) regardless of color.
