The French are glad to die for love
They delight in fighting duels
In France, during the early 1500s to late 1700s, men would fight to the death in a duel for a girl they love had there been someone else who loved her.
In reality, this was more due to the idea of respect and honor for a man’s ego; even if you didn’t really care for the woman, you were expected to fight just on the principle of defending your own name from being associated with weakness
