I am a god
Even though I'm a man of God
My whole life in the hands of God
So y'all better quit playin' with God
But Kanye takes it further, boldly claiming that his life and his work is divinely inspired and being molded by God himself (a nod to the Yeezus album title).
Essentially, if you mess with Yeezus, you mess with God.
By proclaiming himself as both a god and a man, Kanye is playing with the sacred dichotomy between God and man. The first two lines set up his profane manipulation: in his first line, he declares himself a “God”, however, he divulges himself as a “man” in the follow up line. These two lines both treat the Judeo-Christian dichotomy of God and man with irreverence and set up his even more contemptuous wordplay in the following two lines. In the third and fourth lines he declares boldly that his life is in his own hands and lashes out at his critics.
