Y'all religion creates division
The great human divider: Religion.
Karl Marx argued that Religion was in effect an addictive drug that destroys the people. Opium ie.
Here, Jay seems to be finally declaring his faith or religious stance which in a nutshell is that, religion is the most toxic component of society when practiced the way it has been for centuries.
Of course, this is just one view; others argue that religion unites mankind in ways that secular humanism can’t. And note that Jay does not say that religion is bad, per se, just that it can create division.
In essence religion that was meant for good was corrupted by humanity’s vices, and personal desires.
