No sympathy for the king, huh?
Niggas even talk about your baby crazy
Some crazies have even accused Jay’s daughter’s name of having occult connotations
‘No sympathy for the king’ is a reference to the album’s title, Magna Carta Holy Grail. The Magna Carta was given to the King of England limiting his power, and the King’s response was that the people had no sympathy for all of his troubles as king, which were few. Jay is using this line jokingly, implying that yes he’s a king, yes he has problem, but his problems and the problems of other ‘Kings’ aren’t nearly as bad or uncommon as people make them seem.
Basquiat referenced kings a lot, for example the phrase, “Most young kings get their heads chopped off.”
