Damned if I ain't open Pandora's box
“Opening Pandora’s box” is an English turn of phrase referring to an instance where you do something that brings a previously unrealized, overwhelming bad fortune upon you. “Bit off more than you can chew” means the same thing.
It’s a reference to the Greek myth of Pandora, a woman who opened a box containing all the world’s evils, releasing them into human existence. She managed to close the box before letting hope out, though, and that’s why people have hope to confront those evils.
This line might also be a reference to Pandora, the radio streaming service. Just like in the beginning of the song 99 problems, Hov is also addressing the music industry.
He is implying that Pandora and other new music distribution channels were taking money from artists, giving them just a small amount back. Even the Pink Floyd pointed their fingers at Pandora for how they were handling royalties. By getting Samsung to buy 1 million copies of his album in advance, he’s defending himself from eventual loss on the album due to services like that.
