Depui mwen gen pwoblem mwen rale ouzi
Le mal lekol ameriken te kon joure'm
Yo relem neg nwe, yo relem ti refijie

[Interlude: Wyclef Jean]
Kote moun yo? mwen pa woue moun yo
Then you should know
That one day we are gone
So keep your head to the sky
See the path we refuse is the path we should choose
They won't take the world when you die

Wyclef decoded the meaning of Sang Fezi during an interview with Hot 97 – Ebro In the Morning;
So the record Sang Fezi, I did that record in Kreol. And what I’m saying in Kreol is at the time, its 1997…and I’m sending the signals right? to my set at the time. So think about how you would have sets [who use] hand signs right? So when I say my set, I mean that. I’m sending a signal to everyone who was red and blue [Haitians] at that time and I’m saying ‘Don’t leave home without your guns’.
That’s what I’m saying in the record. And I’m saying ‘make sure your gun is on you because when they come for you, its after they rob you, then the police show up.’ And at the end of the day, I knew at that time I couldn’t say that in English right? But I felt like we was in a position where [there] was vulnerability and at the end of the day, now we in 2018, am I gonna be like yo you know you get older and you’ll be like okay there’s different ways to do it.
