Another example of nostalgia, that Gambino has been referring back to throughout this verse. He’s back to his roots, but as as a changed man, and he’s not sure how he feels about it.
If you listen closely, the sound of a moving train can be heard at the beginning of the song alluding to the train his parents met on. I’m sure the barking dog will have some significance as well but we may have to wait to hear the rest of the album to learn what it is.
The train might even be the “centipede” he’s talking about. But I’ll bet the word “centipede” has many other functions.
