And told my little man I'mma [???]
It’s not clear what happens after Nas tells Shorty he’s leaving [“ghost” or “go”]. Here are some possibilities:
1) “I rose” — It would be strange for Nas to say this, since he said that he rose just two lines before (maybe he got up, sat back down after wiping off the ash, and then got up again?). On the other hand, in the “One Love” scene from Belly, Nas rises after saying he’s ghost. Besides this, it sure does sound like there’s a “p” between the “i” and “r” sounds.
2) “Cyprose” — Urban Dictionary suggests “Cypher + Prose = Cyprose”. This word, whose meaning in this context is obscure, is not attested elsewhere. It’s plausible as Five Percenter slang, of which Nas is a well-known user.
3) “I prosed” — Nas explains his non-poetic delivery of his words of wisdom. Another way of saying “I said.” This gives something like “"Try to rise up above, and keep an eye out for Jake,” I prosed [said] to Shorty.“ "Prose” can be used as a verb, though only in old-time jargon, so it’s possible that Nas would have employed it in this context.
It would be great to have Nas himself say what the line is.
