Featuring Jay Electronica
Jay Electronica (Timothy Thedford) provides perhaps the most concept based verse on the entire album, and it isn’t coincidental that it fits the name of the album. The Roc-Nation rapper spits fire on Mac’s very own beat, providing allegories for sex with the movie The Wizard Of Oz, humour relating to his long stretches of time without releasing material & homage to those who have come before him.
Pitchfork described the impact of Jay’s verse in their review of the album.
…on “Suplexes Inside of Complexes and Duplexes”, Jay Electronica shows up unannounced to kick a nonsensical verse, his first in years, and blows the whole album sky high just recounting the story of The Wizard of Oz.
