In other words: we (blacks) can’t take these white “revolutionaries” in SDS seriously — they see social protest as something “fun,” or at most as an ethical commitment, like vegetarianism. Blacks, on the other hand, trapped in the “unflushable toilet bowl” of the ghetto, see revolution as a practical necessity, and don’t necessarily appreciate the “assistance” of young whites with no long-term commitment to the cause.
