Aesop speaks as God here, commenting negatively on his role as creator. God exists beyond dimensions in a world beyond our physical comprehension.
But to do what? Only to “over cook the specimen.” The word choice in this line is key because it’s so dehumanizing — treating the human species as just flesh, and removing any identifiably human qualities from the description by using the word “specimen”.
