Over both a progressive and regressive instrumental, “Internal Bleeding” finds Kid Cudi articulating a state of emotional futility in the face of depression, stuck upon the notion that there’s no solution or cure for the mental suffering he metaphorically terms as being a physical affliction throughout this song.

Whilst on most fronts it can be regarded as a defeatist anthem, it also gives off the impression of Scott being resolute in standing alone as a “warrior man,” remaining optimistic amidst all that plagues him.

Conceptually, there’s a possibility that this track is referencing the abortion of a child, should the overall title structure of the EP be taken into consideration.
