Mastermind Unfolds Like A True Crime: The Album’s Top Lyrics Lyrics

Rick Ross has released his highly anticipated sixth studio album, Mastermind. The album features a slew of prominent producers including Scott Storch, D-Rich, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, and many others. Ross has made it a fixture to include numerous high profile features on his albums, and Mastermind is no different - the Bawse enlisted the help of JAY Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, and many more. To celebrate the release of Mastermind, Rap Genius delves into the very best Rozay lyrics of the album.

5. Mafia Music III

Niggas hating, though they studied my moves
I'm like Farrakhan, in view of hundreds of Jews

Ross has always had a slight fixation with Louis Farrakhan - he's compared himself to the Nation of Islam leader a few times over the years. It culminated in late 2012 when Ross met and prayed with Minister Farrakhan. In the third installment of Mafia Music, Rozay yet again likens himself to the Honorable Minister. The Bawse, like Farrakhan, is vilified by Jewish people.

4. Sanctified

All I wanted was a hundred million dollars and a bad bitch

Rick Ross has lamented time and time again how he wants to one day hit a net worth of over $100 million. In one of the album's many stand out tracks, Rozay once again emphasizes his desire for a hundred million. When promoting the album, Ross revealed that he has "100 Million" tattooed on his stomach, because it is one of his life goals. After all, Ross wants to be Rich Forever.

3. In Vein

Now I'm ballin' deep, deeper than the rap
She give me brain she a mastermind to be exact
She a mastermind to be exact

Rozay has always been a baller - he started out as a standout football player in high school and went on to become one of the biggest rapstars in the world. Ross' baller status extends far beyond the rap game: the Teflon Don owns 12 Wingstop restaurants and has endorsement deals with Cîroc, Luc Belaire Rosé, and Reebok. Rozay's such a baller the ladies have to fight to get a piece of him. Just being in the presence of a boss is a move on the chess board.

2. The Devil Is A Lie

Wingstop, fat boy need a 10 piece

No list that compiles Rozay's best lyrics is complete unless it includes a lyric about Ross' love of FOOD. Ever since The Bawse so famously declared his love for Wingstop's lemon pepper wings on “MC Hammer”, Ricky has gone on to buy 12 Wingstop franchises - which he heavily promotes through his rhymes. When meeting with us here at Rap Genius, Rozay revealed to us what his usual order at Wingstop is!

1. Rich Is Gangsta

Feds tore apart the squad, nigga
That's why I had to play the part, nigga
That wasn't me, it was a job, nigga
It gets deeper, that was just a start, nigga

Ricky Rozay rarely gets introspective in his lyrics. However, the introductory track on Mastermind bucks that trend. Throughout the album, Ross speaks on his days with the Boobie Boys, but no lyric is more powerful than this. The Bawse starts off by callously describing the disbandment of the Boobie Boys gang, all while staunchly defending why he took the correctional officer gig; in order to protect his incarcerated gang mates. The real Ricky Rozay isn't some husky 19 year old correctional officer - it's the 38 year old gargantuan rapstar who now has the rap game in a choke hold.

How to Format Lyrics:

  • Lyrics should be broken down into individual lines
  • Use section headers above different song parts like [Verse], [Chorus], etc.
  • Use italics (<i>lyric</i>) and bold (<b>lyric</b>) to distinguish between different vocalists in the same song part
  • If you don’t understand a lyric, use [?]
