Through the lights cameras and action, glamour glitters and gold
I unfold the scroll, plant seeds to stampede the globe
Even in the limelight, Nas drops wisdom in hopes to spreed knowledge to listeners. He is also fathering children (seeds) so that his family will take over the world.
The first line can be seen as fame and fortune were always on Nas' top priority because he grew up poor, but after he achieved them, they only served as a means of getting through to the people, unfolding his scroll and creating the force that would stampede the globe.
Of course, this is all metaphorical. He’s talking about connecting to his listeners and lyrically reaching out to them.
The second line may also have to do with him rolling out a blunt paper (I unfold the scroll), and putting the weed in (planting seeds). He’s unfolding the scroll and predicting his success in hip-hop culture.
Metaphorically speaking, the “scroll” is his rhyme book and the “seeds” he’s planting are the lyrics that would influence a generation of rap fans.
- He is placing the idea of getting big in the game in his “scroll”, or his future. With his music, he inspires people (plants seeds) all around the world, creating a force (his fanbase) ready to ‘stampede the globe’ at his command.
Don´t even ask me how!
