Yeezy Rant Lyrics

[Intro: Kanye West]
Everybody says, "Who does he think he is?"
I just told you who I thought I was: A God
I just told you! That's who I think I am
Would it been better if I had a song that said 'I Am A Nigga?'
Or if I had a song called 'I Am A Gangsta?'
Or if I had a song called 'I Am A Pimp?'
All those colors and patinas fit better on a person like me, right?

[Verse 1]
Told the judge all my niggas hustling, not out of greed, but out of struggling
Get caught with a lil' weed, now can't get a fucking job or nothing

But niggas gotta eat, so they gonna fucking rob or something
So niggas in the street, tryna make something out of nothing
That's a little alchemy

You posed to play hard, when these niggas play for keeps
Put a nigga in a jail cell and profit off of me
Cause rehabilitation for a minority in the nation, that's a good lie

So I'mma wait for a good night
Put on my hood like I'm Trayvon
Then kick in your door and take everything like I got eight arms
I might steal your car then crash the shit
Fuck your daughters and yo' bitch
Might steal your dog on some ignorant shit
That's the shit they like, man
That's the shit they fear, though
That's the shit that's real, but it won't stop
Bunch of white girls bumping Chief Keef in some fucking flip flops
Ya'll like the music but aye, ya'll cross the street if a nigga ever crossed your way

Yelling fuck these corporations, you niggas can't control me
Yelling fuck these dirty cops these niggas tryna ho me
I'll build a soapbox right up on yo' shit
And let these niggas know that you really ain't controlling shit
Revolution televised, they won't let it go that far
But it's all good nigga put that shit right up on Worldstar
Speak a little knowledge and they think you went to college
Telling me you speak well for a black guy
Oh shit, is that right
[Kanye West]
But to state you are a God...
Especially when you got shipped over to the country that you're in
And your last name is a slave owner's
How could you say that?
How could you have that mentality?

[Verse 2]
Land of the free, but man, freedom ain't free
I tried to buy some fucking freedom, they said they don't take no EBT
Like, what the fuck you niggas mean
How you already judging me
Cause I'm 19 years old and I won't kiss no ass
Throw a banker out the window like Wall Street crashed
Cause I'm over it, I'm over it
I might shoot a cop, just for fun
Let me see your hand and then I hand you the gun
Like, hold the bitch, hold the bitch. Nigga, can you hold the bitch
Cause I'm marching around town like a nigga on his soldier shit
Young Chris Dorner, kill a nigga for speaking the truth
But fuck these cops, what a nigga gon' do
Fuck that shit, pitting me against you
But it's us against them
Nigga
Look at the color of our skin
Nigga
Think getting rich will stop them triggers
Nigga
How the fuck do you figure
Nigga
Getting rich will stop them looks
Nigga
Read a book and they still get shook
Nigga
Take what yours and you a crook
Nigga
And you wonder why
Cause in they eyes at the end of the day you still a nigga and I can't lie

Genius Annotation

I had a lot to get off my chest. A truly cathartic experience. Around this time, police were killing innocent black people every month or two consistently. It was painful to watch. The reactions were painful and isolating. It wasn’t fit for a twitter rant, so I searched to find the perfect beat and then I remembered the Ye interview. The quote always stuck out to me because it was a reminder of how people try to diminish black people who think too highly of themselves, and seeing cop after cop walk away for literal murder felt like they were sending the same message but wanted us all to see it.

Seeing a black man get killed in an open carry state just because he picked up a gun in a walmart (the place that sold it), only to see white people carry rifles to stores in actual fucking groups hurts in such an indescribable way
