This starts off an entire verse that is meant to be taken sarcastically. Frank is also trying to save face after being rejected by the person whom he wants to spend forever with.
After being shot down, it’s typical to deny any previous proclamation of infatuation as well as come up with excuses for why he was talking about spending forever with him/her.
When his lover leaves him for these reasons, he externally tries to minimize the situation, and make it seem the least gay by saying he didn’t actually like the guy, and that there was no love, perhaps just an unexplainable physical attraction, which perhaps is more socially acceptable and normal than being fully gay. The other lines, are his internal contempt for this attitude, and a frustrated recognition that both of them know damn well that they love each other, and that to believe otherwise would be just wrong.
