Look the mastermind, took the masters mind
from Kendrick Lamar (Ft. Dash Snow) – The Heart Pt. 2 Lyrics on Rap Genius
He’s not talking about “slaveowning”. He’s saying he studied the “master’s mind” (Understood the Man’s ways), then over took his mind, so know he’s on top and fucked the system inside out.
Kendrick Lamar is familiar with the philosophy found in Napoleon Hill’s book “Think and Grow Rich”; which he refers to his teachings in some of his songs like, “Cut you off” (He actually says his name in a verse) or “Determined” (The song starts off with a common introduction to Napoleon Hill’s teachings that, “Whatever the mind can conceive it can achieve”.)

(Great philosopher and teacher I highly suggest you link up with on youtube or by getting the book)
In the book “Think and Grow Rich” apart of what creates success is a “Mastermind alliance” a group of common minded individuals pushing towards one goal. It is said that a group that works together as a team towards one purpose have a greater chance of success than any individual that stands alone.

(Yes sir this is a Starwars reference, because the “Jedi Council” is an example of a Mastermind Alliance.)
What Kendrick is saying is that he’s prepared his army. “Look the mastermind” (Identified masterminds/teammates like what a Jedi would do) “Took the masters mind” (Created his “Mastermind Alliance” as if by force of will) with the underlining thought that he is perhaps NOT a “Slave Master”, BUT instead capitalizing that he is a “Master” already AND a Master of Masters! (Like Yoda he is the head of the Jedi Masters!)
This continues into “Just the perfect time, just to master mine” which can only mean that his assembly (Mastermind Alliance) was created at the right moment to allow him to further better his art in music, “Just to match the grind with precision”. The Grind in the music industry and it must be against those who Grind the hardest today. It ends in “Look the mastermind” he capitalizes again as in “Lo and Behold… we are the mastermind”
Kendrick Lamar is a genius and I can never listen to this song’s last verse just once. I swear to GOD most of yah just don’t knoooow Kendrick!
