The sky is falling, the wind is calling
Stand for something or die in the morning

from Kendrick Lamar – HiiiPower Lyrics on Rap Genius

Time is running out, the time is now, stand up or die.

These two lines have similar imagery to Revelation 7:1-3 in the Bible:

After these things I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, on the sea, or on any tree. 2 Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, 3 saying, “Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.

In both cases, the apocalyptic weather represents destruction and the end as we know it. .

Also, Martin Luther King said:

A man who won’t die for something is not fit to live.

Combine the two

Stand for something or die in the morning

Stand for something, be ready to die for that something, or you might as well just die…in the morning.

Kendrick also plays on the quote “Those who stand for nothing fall for anything” and its various forms, exaggerating it to the extent that if you don’t stand for something you’ll fall right into your grave.
